The Apartment Complex is a location in the Auburn District, which appears in F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon. The apartment complex is abandoned and in a state of disarray, due to the powerful psychic influence of Alma Wade driving people away, along with contamination from the secret Origin Facility. Paths through the complex are frequently blocked by furniture and debris left by former residents, and many doorways and windows are broken and/or boarded up. Despite the lack of maintenance, most of the lights are still working.
F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault ReconEdit
The Point Man is forced to enter the apartment complex when the helicopter he is riding in is shot down by Replica Forces. While Jin Sun-Kwon and Douglas Holiday wait for help, the Point Man enters the apartment complex, intending to pass through it on his way to the Origin Facility.
Inside the complex, he is confronted by several Replicas, including a Replica REV6 Powered Armor. He is able to maneuver through the area, until he comes upon a hallucination of Paxton Fettel with Alice Wade. Fettel taunts the Point Man, and then disappears.
The Point Man is then pulled into a hallucination of the Birthing Facility where Alma Wade was forced to give birth to her sons. After leaving the hallucination, the Point Man sees an apparition of Alma's child form in a broken down elevator. He is then able to exit the complex, crossing through an abandoned building and entering the Origin Facility.
The entire Auburn District, including the apartment complex, is later destroyed in an explosion triggered by the Point Man.
- The texture and set design of the apartment complex would be reused by TimeGate Studios for the first level in the expansion F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point, which opens up in an Apartment building that is of similar layout and has a nearly identical appearance.
