- "Alma... if Fettel finds her... Origin...
- - Bill Moody's last words."
The first living Armacham Technology Corporation employee the F.E.A.R. Point Man encounters, Bill Moody plays a minor role in the events of F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon, as well as making a cameo appearance in F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point.
F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault ReconEdit
Bill Moody first appears in a vision, in which he is being interrogated by Paxton Fettel about Alma Wade's location. During this scene, Moody claims that he doesn't know what Fettel is talking about, which is probably true, as phone messages heard later on in F.E.A.R. suggest that he does not know about the atrocities surrounding the Origin Project and that other Armacham employees ignore him when he becomes concerned about his research findings. Iain Hives refuses to give Moody requested information, saying that it's "strictly need-to-know" and later tells another employee named Janice to "act like you give a shit about his concerns."
Soon, Fettel is unsatisfied by Moody's responses to his interrogation. He ignores his pleas for mercy and tells "Hush now Mr. Moody, the time for talk is over" and attacks him. Moody is later found barely alive by the Point Man at the South River Wastewater Treatment Plant, but he soon dies, managing only to warn the Point Man that Fettel is looking for Alma. Shortly before the Point Man witnesses his death, his phantom image is seen, followed by a whisper: "There's something in the water..."
Over the course of the game, the Point Man learns that Moody was sent to the plant to search for specific chemical compounds in the water, which, unknown to him, is downriver from Armacham's Origin Facility. In one message, having completed his investigation at the plant, he tells an employee, "All the compounds you asked for are present," but notes that every one of them was discovered in much higher concentrations than expected.
