F.E.A.R. 2: Project OriginEdit
They almost always use combat shotguns, as well as the Patten PK470 Assault Rifle and Andra SR5 Missile Launcher, and one even comes with the Armacham HV Hammerhead late in the game. They coordinate much more effectively than the regular guards. About halfway through the game, Michael Becket will start encountering the Heavy Soldiers in much larger numbers, leading squads of their own kind or of regular guards. Flanking and grenades are the most effective ways of getting rid of these enemies. Note that rushing them without Slow-Mo is more often than not suicidal, due to their usage of shotguns and assault rifles. However, they do move slower than normal Black Ops soldiers due to their heavier equipment. The first Heavy Guard is introduced in the Harbinger Facility, where he mercilessly executes a surgeon trying to revive a critically injured nurse.
ATC Heavy Soldiers are encountered sparingly in Reborn, and all carry the Andra SR5 Missile Launcher, making them much harder enemies than in Project Origin. On the plus side, they are only encountered during the Elite Powered Armor section of the game.
At least one can be encountered when the players first fight the Armachan soldiers in Subway Panic, where one comes out of the derelict tram.
In the multiplayer for F.E.A.R 2, these soldiers appear as a selectable character model for the ATC faction. Their heavy armor provides them maximum protection at the cost of carrying space. Their multiplayer counterpart is Replica Heavy Trooper.
- All Black Ops Heavy Soldiers will carry shotgun shells, even if their weapon doesn't use them.
- According to concept art, Black Ops Heavy Soldiers may have carried the Shark FL-3 Laser originally, however, the only Laser users in-game are Heavy Armors, Foxtrot 813 and Becket himself.
