F.E.A.R. 3 (stylized in the logo as F.3.A.R) is a sequel to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin and is a first person-shooter developed by Day 1 Studios for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It was announced on April 8 and has since been released on June 21, 2011, and includes John Carpenter helping on the cinematics as well as writer Steve Niles.
Rumors of the sequel to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin were leaked via NeoGAF forums due to a "Next Issue" image of the March issue of Spanish video game magazine Marca Player.[1] The image depicts Alma and her baby, along with two other characters. However, no confirmation was given by Warner Bros. at that time.[2]

Gameplay

F.E.A.R. 3 includes new features such as co-op and an evolved cover system, as well as new weapons. The player will be able to control both the Point Man and Paxton Fettel, the protagonist and antagonist from the first game, F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon. The controls for the Point Man are the same, with shooting enemies and slowing time. As Fettel, the player will assist the Point Man by using telekinesis, stun, possession, and other abilities.

F.E.A.R. 3 has four games modes included in the Multiplayer portion of the game.
The first mode is called F**king Run!, and involves Alma's wall of death chasing the members of the F.E.A.R. squad, forcing the team to reach various checkpoints. If one of the team members die, the game ends immediately.
The second game mode, Contractions, puts the player as a F.E.A.R. squad holding off Alma's minions. The team must work together to build barricades and collect various weapons to fight off the 20 waves of enemies. The longer the team survives, the more the fog circles the team, making it hard to see enemies. More difficult enemies begin to come out of the ever intensifying fog, such as Alma herself. Alma may be seen walking or even skipping around the map, but looking directly at her for an instant will cause her to turn her gaze on the player's character, leading to certain penalties, such as reduced speed, being blinded temporarily, and being thrust to the edge of the map, forcing the player to fight their way alone back to the team.
The third game mode is called Soul Survivor. As another member of a F.E.A.R. Squad, the team has to fight off waves of enemies. Alma will corrupt one of the teammates, or perhaps even the player's own character. If the player's character is corrupted, they will be tasked with breaking members of the squad off in the hopes of corrupting them. The last F.E.A.R. Squad member alive is the Soul Survivor.
The fourth game mode is called Soul King. All of the players start off as a Spectre. Players fight to possess or kill as many A.I. humans as possible. If the player dies, half of the "Souls" that are collected from fallen specters or humans are lost. The player with the most souls at the end of the round is crowned the Soul King.
Though Multiplayer requires at least 2 players, the game does have solo practice mode for Single player.

Nine months ago, the F.E.A.R. Point Man and his squad were tapped to stop an unknown man who had commandeered a battalion of Replica supersoldiers at the Armacham research facility in the Northwestern US city of Fairport. During the mission, the Point Man learned that the man was not working alone - in fact, the very person the Point Man was ordered to subdue was his telepathic, cannibalistic brother, Paxton Fettel, and his tortured and powerful psionic mother, Alma Wade — products of Armacham Technology Corporation's perverse paranormal experiments. Despite this revelation, the Point Man moved forward with standing F.E.A.R. team orders to stop the targets at any cost. In a last-ditch attempt to end the pair’s homicidal rampage, the F.E.A.R. team set in motion an explosive series of events that seemingly accomplished their goal, but at the cost of ravaging the city, its inhabitants and almost all of the Point Man’s squad mates. Months following the blast, events in Fairport have made it clear that Alma’s psychic influence survived — and worse, her paranormal power is growing and spilling into reality. Now her supernatural agony repeatedly rocks the city as she attempts to secure the survival of her bloodline and reunite her family. Armacham’s security forces remains violently focused on eliminating all evidence of the events in the city, and the remaining F.E.A.R squad carries on the mission to stop Alma.

Nine months after the events of both games, the Point Man is captured by Armacham Security and interrogated in an asylum. Paxton Fettel interrupts the interrogation and helps free the Point Man. The two form an uneasy alliance and escape the Asylum through the slums.
Commandeering a helicopter, the Point Man and Fettel return to Fairport to regroup with F.E.A.R. operative Jin Sun-Kwon. During their return, the civilian population that survived were either driven insane by the paranormal activity or were executed by Armacham personnel. Fighting their way through, the brothers successfully meet up with Jin. Jin plays back recorded video footage of Michael Becket, who reveals his rape at the hands of Alma and the impending birth of her child, and who is slated by Armacham for transport.
Using an automated transport, the Point Man and Fettel assault the local airport to intercept Becket, killing the remnants of the Armacham personnel. In order to gain more intel from Becket, Fettel possesses him and reveals Becket's past life to the Point Man while Becket realizes the Point Man's identity. Fettel's release of Becket proves fatal, causing a gory explosion. The Point Man and Fettel head to an old training facility used by Harlan Wade years ago to study and develop the prototypes, where the two start to destroy items associated with memories of their childhood past. Events in this scenario are determined by which one of the brothers the player is controlling. Alternatively, if played during co-op, the player with the higher score determines the ending. The good ending will show Point Man overpowering Fettel and vice-versa, with the ending depending on whether Point Man or Fettel had survived their final struggle.
A lingering echo of Harlan Wade known as The Creep appears, taunting the brothers until it is finally killed. Shortly after destroying the monstrous apparition of Wade, one of two endings are possible, depending on multiple factors. For single-player, a good and evil ending:
The Point Man ending has him shooting Paxton in the head three times and watching his body spontaneously burn itself up. Then, as he walks over to Alma, ready to finish the job, he notices that her baby has been successfully born. Even as her body disappears, Point Man receives a transmission from Jin that everything is finally over. With the baby in the crook of his left arm, he leaves the room.
The Paxton Fettel ending has Paxton possessing Point Man's body and somehow extracting the baby from Alma's swollen body. He promises to raise the child like it was his own, but sets it aside as he notices Alma. Fettel then pounces on his mother, and begins to violently cannibalize her.

Many different kinds of enemies are encountered in F.E.A.R 3.
Armacham:

- Soldiers: Grunts, the most common enemy that appears in every Interval, except for Interval 08.
- Replica Troops: Stronger than Grunts, they appear once the player enters deeper into Fairport.
- Phase Casters: Soldiers with powerful armor. They summon other soldiers into battle.
- Phase Commanders: Much like Phase Casters, but with thicker and stronger armor. They're capable of passing through solid surfaces.
- Mech Mule: Small robot mechs encountered twice in Campaign mode. Their weapons consist of a mounted Gatling gun and mortars.
- REV9 Powered Armor: Suits of powered armor controlled and operated by an Armacham or Replica soldier. Their weapons consist of grenade launchers and a laser beam. Can be used by the player.
- Enhanced Power Armor: Elite suits of powered armor controlled and operated by an Armacham or Replica soldier. They're more dangerous and resilient than a REV9, capable of using a shield that makes it immune to all attacks. Their weapons consist of powerful Gatling guns and missile launchers. Can be used by the player.
Supernatural

- Cultists: Insane survivors of the Origin Facility Explosion. They worship Alma and are incredibly violent and bloodthirsty.
- Cannibals: Insane survivors of the Origin Facility Explosion. Stronger than Cultists, they throw knives at the player.
- Scavengers: Carrion-eating monsters born from Alma's worst memories.
- Creep: Mysterious apparition that haunts the player and even scares Alma.
- Alma: Mother of Point Man and Paxton Fettel. The face of the F.E.A.R. franchise and often appearing as an apparition in the form of a child. Despite being by far the most powerful "enemy," she never attacks anyone in Campaign mode.

The new sequel, titled F.E.A.R. 3, was officially announced on April 8, 2010,[3] [4] along with its trailer.[5] The game was developed by Day 1 Studios, in collaboration with Monolith Productions. The gameplay features a "Generative Scare System" to change the placement and timing of enemies "on each playthrough".
The game was set to release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in October 2010. However, after August, 17 2010 it was announced that the game would not be released until April 2011 for unknown reasons.
The release of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game was pushed from March to May 2011 earlier this week, shortly before a collector's edition - featuring a pregnant Alma figurine.
On the 27th of April 2011, Warner Bros. announced yet another delay to the title, pushing it back to June 21st in North America and June 24th in the UK.
On June 17 the game was available for pre-order in Steam and then finally released on June 21st on all consoles.

There is a 12 page comic book (made by DC comics) for F.E.A.R. 3 with the pre-order from Amazon. The comic is a prequel to the events of the game.
